ANTONY & CLEOPATRA premiered at The Brick in Brooklyn, NYC in August 2016 as part of their Shakespeare in the Theater Festival.

We worked on this production for almost a year: 9 months on Skype, 7 weeks in person. The stripped down, 2-man production that we brought to The Brick was influenced by our long rehearsal phase through Skype and the task of Luke and Ron playing all of the characters, sometimes 5 of them in one scene. Our adaptation compacted and distilled Shakespeare’s epic play to an intimate 8 characters and 90 minutes, finding the heart of this play rests in the fragility of human relationships. It's as if you were an archaeologist, albeit of plays not landscapes, who excavated the emotional energy, the spine of the play, the poetry, which had been hidden under layers of text. No wonder I felt like crying through most of it: the extreme fragility of human relationships was cracked open, was held out to the audience, was shown in such a tender way--in a way that embraced the paradoxes inherent in those fragile human relationships."
